L M Cline's was hired to transform this living room into a comfortable, elegant, warm, and inviting family room.  The client also requested additional storage with "warm cozy colors" to relax in after a long day at the office.  L M Cline's  needed to make this family room cohesive not only within the room itself, but to bring the rest of the home in so your eye flowed easily from room to room.    The long hallway was very barren just waiting for the plethora of photos the client had of her son and loved ones.  The ceilings are 9' so the eye needed to be drawn up to accentuate the height of the ceilings.

We started by adding the knockdown treatment to all the walls above and below the chair rail.  (This wall treatment also works well in homes with children to mask the fingerprints of your little ones or any nicks that may happen during those growing years).  Once the knockdown was installed, the walls were primed with Glidden primer in white.  The client expressed wanting a cohesive color scheme, but wanted to really showcase the chair rail.  Therefore, we chose to go with the two-toned color scheme.  Above the chair rail we used Benjamin Moore #1074; Alpaca in an eggshell finish; below the chair rail we used Benjamin Moore #1076; Capilano Bridge also in an eggshell finish.  By using the color scheme we took the room from hard and stark to warm and inviting.  Crown molding was added which accentuated the ceiling height tremendously adding another dimension and layering to the rooms.  New decor was purchased for the built-in bookcase/entertainment center.  The client expressed additional concerns for extra storage in the home with additional lighting.   We purchased two new lamps by Chris Madden to accentuate the color scheme and feel to the room.  The end tables were purchased from Haverty's furniture store on Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee. By adding the two table lamps we achieved this warmth on one side of the room, however, still felt the need to wrap the room in the warmth and glow of a light in the evening time without having to use the overhead lighting.  This goal was achieved by adding a floor lamp which we also purchased at Haverty's furniture store on Kingston Pike.  The occasional table came from Bill Cox Furniture that was hand painted in the Scarlet finish with  one drawer and one door with an adjustable shelf on the inside.  This is perfect for housing the remote controls for the entertainment center along with books and a laptop for evening work that could not be left at the office.  Throw pillows were added to both the sofa and love seat to bring the warmth and gold colors to the dark brown leather furniture.  A throw was added to the recliner for those chilly evenings.  Personalization to the entertainment was achieved by purchasing pieces to bring out accent colors within the room and a Large letter denoting the clients last name initial.  A large piece of iron work was added above the french doors tying the windows and doors together.

The end result was truly what the client ordered.  She wanted a warm room in browns and golds with a slight Mediterranian feel.  It was a true transformation custom ordered by the client.  Her husband said to me upon leaving that we had truly made his house a home.  We were proud to help the client's enjoy their home on a daily basis.
